VIKING SKI TOURS

The Adult Touring program is a well-loved and longstanding tradition at Viking, and arguably among its best kept secrets.

Our midweek and Saturday tours are open to all experienced skiers and are the perfect way to enjoy the peaceful winter wonderland in good company. The program is free for full, complimentary and honorary Viking members. 

Weekday tours
Weekday tours are fairly informal meet-ups, where a group of us gather in the morning and ski on mostly groomed trails for three to five hours (usually a shorter and a longer route is provided). The departure point can be from the Viking clubhouse, from a Morin-Heights parking lot or occasionally from a commercial ski centre, such as Camping Ste-Agathe or Parc regionale Val-David-Val-Morin. We bring lunch and often return to the chalet to eat. Our tours usually take place on Thursdays, with the possibility to add optional days, depending on conditions and the preferences of participants.

Saturday tours
The Saturday tours have a different rhythm. These tours are hosted by members who have chalets in the Laurentians. We gather at the host chalet for a hot drink and deposit boots and bags. Hosts propose a choice of (mostly track set) routes close to their homes with varying levels of difficulty. Often these are local trails, or trails that bridge to lesser used Viking or Morin Heights trails. The beauty is that they are enough off the beaten track so as not to be busy on a Saturday. After skiing, we return to the chalet for a hot soup provided by the host. While we bring our own lunches, each person also makes a contribution to the communal table. The atmosphere is relaxed and convivial and a perfect finish to a lovely day on the trails. Space is limited, so members are asked to RSVP beforehand.
